Hamster longevity: evidence and limits
Read the RSPCA, PDSA and VetCompass evidence behind hamster-lifespan-v0.1, and why care answers guide advice rather than adding years.
Sources and methodology
Care pages and clinical records describe different populations. We do not turn VetCompass median death age or care answers into individual year adjustments.
Model: hamster-lifespan-v0.1
The model uses total planning age = (current age³ + reference age³)^(1/3), with reference ages 2, 2.5 and 3. The curve is an internal assumption, not a fitted hamster life table.
This is an unvalidated educational planning model, not an individual prognosis or a confidence interval. Only age changes the numbers.
The estimate uses short hamster lifespan guidance and a versioned internal age curve.
Educational planning only, not veterinary advice or a guarantee. Seek veterinary help for appetite loss, breathing trouble, injuries, lumps or sudden behavior changes.
